Colt's Birthday Weekend

Happy "Hump Day", friends! We hope your week so far has been a healthy, happy and productive one! Only 2 more days until the weekend... hang in there!

This past weekend was another whirlwind. Not only was it Colt's birthday weekend, but it was also the 3rd annual TCU MBA Alumni Weekend.

Colt kicked off his birthday weekend by attending the Alumni golf tournament on Friday. I received this picture while I was still hard at work in my classroom teaching America's future. ;) Seriously though, it was gorgeous weather to be outdoors enjoying the fresh air... especially during your birthday weekend!

On Saturday, Colt and I got to spend some much needed quality time together before getting dressed for dinner and the MBA Alumni Gala. We drove to downtown Fort Worth to have dinner with our friends, John and Trevor, at Del Friscos. Our dinner was delicious and it was topped off by the great company we had. After dinner we headed out to Mira Vista Country Club for the gala. It was such a fun night full of music, scrumptious desserts, blackjack and craps tables, and of course so many awesome people we've met this year. I can't believe we are almost finished with Colt's first year of business school! One year down and only one left to go! What a journey it's been so far!

Couldn't wait to dress up! Who said we can't add fashion to this blog as well?!

How about that cake?!

After the gala, some of Colt's classmates had a get-together at their house. It was definitely a fun night getting to dress up, spend time with friends and make memories. Not only have the spouses, significant others and Colt's classmates been friendly, supportive and just great people all around, but the MBA staff at TCU has been so helpful and incredible as well. It is refreshing to be surrounded by so many outgoing and amazing people. We are so proud and feel so lucky to be a part of this close knit community. I know we are making friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime!

Shoutout to our friend Nick for making it on our blog! ;) Hiiiii Nick!
Sunday was Colt's actual birthday. It was pouring rain Sunday morning so that meant it was perfect weather for sleeping in! It had been a late night the night before (let's face it... we don't stay out THAT late these days!) and we weren't quite ready to wake up, but we were STARVING! We met my sister and parents for lunch at Colt's favorite mexican restaurant and then went back to my parents for cake and birthday presents. Colt was quite spoiled. He works so hard, he deserves that and more. After celebration and festivities at my parents house we went back to our house for a much needed nap. After I woke up, I gave Colt my presents to open. He was pleasantly surprised!

Can you see 32 in the candles? :)
Fun fact: Funfetti cake is Colt's favorite!

Even though he has his office, his birthday request was a laptop stand for working on while we watch House of Cards. It even has a cooling fan. So spoiled. ;)
That's pretty much what we've been up to in our neck of the woods. Feeling all the feels after a weekend spent with some extraordinary people. We love you all!
